Residential Construction projects

Dream Home - Immingham, 2020

Its not often you get to design and build something like this. It truly is a master piece in its own right. The client "Matt" is a smashing bloke, all he asked for was he wanted to feel as though he was on holiday every day.

I spent probably 250 hours just on the cad system, offering suggestions and tweeking every angle.

Because of covid we had to restrict who was on site, apart from plastering and a few visits from the sparky and plumber three of us built this place.

If anyone wants this building please do get in touch, I'd love to build it again.

Self build 3 - Gunthorpe, 2007

Having successfully completed two self-build projects, I was on the lookout for my next adventure, and it would be my third. With experience under my belt, I also started designing a few projects. For this one, I drew inspiration from the elegance of a Victorian manor house.

Taking on the role of both designer and architect, I meticulously crafted all the drawings and handled the building regulation submissions. The process was marked by numerous requests for additional information, leading to months of back-and-forth communications. Eventually, after overcoming these hurdles, the drawings were approved, and we were ready to begin building.

One of the unique challenges I embraced was maintaining 3mm joints using imperial-sized bricks – a task that certainly had its moments of frustration! However, the end result justified the effort. The slate roof, intricate stonework, and meticulously designed barge boards breathed life into this exquisite structure.

As you may have noticed, many of the photos are traditional printed copies. Unfortunately, the digital copies were stored on a computer that was stolen during a home break-in. It's a poignant reminder of the importance of preserving our memories.

I'd like to express my gratitude to my father for taking the time to capture these photos and safeguard the memories.

Self build 2 - Heckdyke, 2005

Our journey led us to a project situated on the grounds of an aging farmhouse. The original structure had weathered the years and, in time, its owner made the decision to demolish it, opening the doors for a fresh start.

When tasked with designing the new house, we had a series of specific conditions to consider, particularly the aesthetics and the property's footprint. The addition of garages, complete with attic trusses for versatile office space and a workshop, turned this project into one of my personal favorites. Regrettably, many of the photographs from this endeavor have been lost over time.

Creating your new home is an unparalleled experience. If you're considering such a journey and require our assistance, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Barn Conversion - Ealand, 2004

Throughout our journey, we've taken on various construction projects, each presenting its own unique set of challenges. The barn conversion was an entirely new venture for us. With our extensive experience in both building and deconstructing structures, it seemed like a straightforward task - or so we thought.

This project proved to be a bit more intricate than expected. Barn conversion regulations brought their own complexities, from preserving window openings to adhering to specific brickwork specifications and the extensive underpinning required. It wasn't a walk in the park, but the effort was well worth it.

I vividly recall the pivotal moment when Paul Fox provided the architects' certificate. He was a fantastic individual to work with.

The project was carried out for Dave Palmer, a retired major from the army. To this day, nearly two decades later, we maintain a strong connection with him. Dave is a remarkable individual, and we had the pleasure of working on several projects for him before the construction boom took its course.

Self build 1 - Butterwick , 2001

Building one's own home is a dream for many, and it was a dream come true for us at the age of 32. We embarked on the journey of creating our dream home, with determination and a clear vision in mind.

With a budget of £82,500, to buy the plot and build the property, money was tight to say the least. A good friend lent me a further £15,000 to complete the build.

Our journey began in early October, building from the ground up, and we completed the project by the second week of March. We worked tirelessly, often around the clock (just ask our understanding neighbours!).

Dedication was the name of the game, with only one day off throughout the entire process, which happened to be Christmas day.

We moved into our new home while the mains electric was still being connected. The excitement of our new beginning was met with the reality of an empty house. That first night, we slept on the floor in the lounge, with baby Ryan in front of the fireplace, and improvised curtains served as temporary doorways. These early days, looking back, were filled with a sense of adventure and nostalgia.

Our journey in building our dream home was a labor of love, determination, and unforgettable moments. We look forward to sharing this journey with you as we continue to create more dream homes for our clients.

Warmest regards,
